How to Convert eV to GeV?
One gigaelectron-volt is equivalent to one billion electron-volts:
1 GeV = 1,000,000,000 eV
When measuring energy, if you have the value in electron-volts E(eV), you can convert it to gigaelectron-volts E(GeV) by dividing it by one billion:
E(GeV) = E(eV) / 1,000,000,000 = E(eV) / 109
Example
Let’s say we have a particle with an energy of 2,500,000 electronvolts (2,500,000 eV). To convert this energy to gigaelectronvolts, we need to divide the value by 1,000,000,000 (since there are 1 billion electronvolts in one gigaelectronvolt).
Calculation: Energy in GeV = Energy in eV / 1,000,000,000
Plugging in the values: Energy in GeV = 2,500,000 eV / 1,000,000,000 = 0.0025 GeV
