How to Convert eV to MeV?
One electron-volt can be defined as one millionth of a megaelectron-volt:
1eV is equivalent to 0.000001 MeV.
To convert energy from electron-volts E(eV) to megaelectron-volts E(MeV), divide the energy in eV by one million:
E(MeV) = E(eV) / 1000000.
Example
Let’s say we have an electron with an energy of 500,000 electron volts (500,000 eV). To convert this energy to mega-electron volts (MeV), we divide the value by 1,000,000.
500,000 eV / 1,000,000 = 0.5 MeV
Therefore, the energy of the electron is equivalent to 0.5 mega-electron volts (0.5 MeV).
