Joules to Watts Calculation
The power P in watts (W) is equal to the energy E in joules (J), divided by the time period t in seconds (s):
P(W) = E(J) / t(s)
For example, If the energy consumption of an electrical circuit is 100 joules and takes 10 seconds, what will be the power consumption?
Solution:
P (W) = 100 J / 10 s = 10 watts
For example, let’s find the power consumed in watts when a device uses 300 joules of energy over a time period of 6 seconds:
P(W) = 300 / 6 = 50 watts
Joules to Watts Conversion Table
Here’s a joules to watts conversion table for time = 5 s:
Energy in Joules | Power in Watts |
---|---|
1 J | 0.2 W |
10 J | 2 W |
50 J | 10 W |
100 J | 20 W |
500 J | 100 W |
1000 J | 200 W |
5000 J | 1000 W |
10000 J | 2000 W |
50000 J | 10000 W |
100000 J | 20000 W |
Note that this table assumes a constant time of 5 seconds. If you want to calculate the power for a different time value, you can use the formula watts = joules / time, where joules is the energy in joules and time is the time in seconds.
