This “watts to joules calculator” is a useful tool for calculating energy in joules given power in watts and time in seconds. To use the calculator, simply enter the power in watts and time in seconds into the corresponding input fields, and click the green “Calculate” button. The calculator will then display the result in joules in the output field. If you want to clear the input fields and result, you can click the red “Reset” button.

Watts to Joules Calculation
The energy E in joules (J) is equal to the power P in watts (W), times the time period t in seconds (s):
E(J) = P(W)× t(s)
For example, let’s calculate the energy in joules for a 120-watt power consumption over 20 seconds: E(J) = 120 W × 20 s = 2400 J
Watts to Joules Conversion Table
Here’s a conversion table showing how many joules are in different amounts of watts for a duration of 10 seconds:
Watts | Joules |
---|---|
1 | 10 |
5 | 50 |
10 | 100 |
20 | 200 |
50 | 500 |
100 | 1000 |
500 | 5000 |
1000 | 10000 |
1500 | 15000 |
2000 | 20000 |
To use this table, simply find the number of watts you want to convert and then read across to find the corresponding number of joules. For example, if you have 50 watts for a duration of 10 seconds, you can see from the table that this is equal to 500 joules.
