VA to Watts Calculation

The real power P in watts (W) is equal to the apparent power S in volt-amps (VA), times the power factor PF:

P(W)S(VA) × PF

Examples

Example with a power factor of 0.9:

Enter volt-amps: 1000
Enter power factor: 0.9
Result in watts: 900

Example with a power factor of 0.5:

Enter volt-amps: 800
Enter power factor: 0.5
Result in watts: 400

Example with a power factor of 1 (i.e., perfect power factor):

Enter volt-amps: 1200
Enter power factor: 1
Result in watts: 1200

In each example, the calculator takes in the volt-amps and power factor values as input, performs the calculation (which is simply the product of the volt-amps and power factor), and displays the result in watts. As you can see, the result varies depending on the power factor, with a lower power factor resulting in less power output for the same amount of volt-amps.
