kW to VA Calculation
The apparent power S in volt-amps (VA) is equal to 1000 times the real power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by the power factor PF:
S(VA) = 1000 × P(kW) / PF
For example, let’s convert the real power of 10 kW with a power factor of 0.9 to the apparent power in volt amps.
S(VA) = 1000 × 10 kW / 0.9 = 11111.111 VA
Kilowatts to Volt-amps Conversion Table
Here’s a kilowatts (kW) to volt-amps (VA) conversion table for a power factor of 0.85, for kW values ranging from 1 to 100:
Kilowatts (kW) | Volt-Amps (VA) |
---|---|
1 | 1176.47 |
2 | 2352.94 |
3 | 3529.41 |
4 | 4705.88 |
5 | 5882.35 |
6 | 7058.82 |
7 | 8235.29 |
8 | 9411.76 |
9 | 10588.24 |
10 | 11764.71 |
20 | 23529.41 |
30 | 35294.12 |
40 | 47058.82 |
50 | 58823.53 |
60 | 70588.24 |
70 | 82352.94 |
80 | 94117.65 |
90 | 105882.35 |
100 | 117647.06 |
Please note that this table assumes a power factor of 0.85, which means that the apparent power in VA will be greater than the real power in kW. The exact conversion factor will depend on the specific power factor of the circuit.
