The formula to calculate voltage (V) in volts is obtained by dividing 1000 times the power (P) in kilowatts by the current (I) in amps. This can be represented as V(V) = 1000 × P(kW) / I(A), where V is measured in volts, P in kilowatts, and I in amps.
AC Single Phase Kilowatts to Volts Calculation
The voltage V in volts (V) is equal to 1000 times the power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by the power factor PF times the current I in amps (A):
V(V) = 1000 × P(kW) / (PF × I(A))

Calculation with Line-to-Line Voltage
The formula to calculate the line-to-line RMS voltage (VL-L) in volts is obtained by dividing 1000 times the power (P) in kilowatts by the product of the square root of 3, the power factor (PF), and the current (I) in amps. This can be represented as VL-L = 1000 * P(kW) / (√3 × PF × I(A)), which is approximately equal to VL-L = 1000 * P(kW) / (1.732 × PF × I(A)). The values for VL-L, P, PF, and I are measured in volts, kilowatts, unitless, and amps respectively.
Calculation with Line to Neutral Voltage
For three-phase AC circuits, where the line-to-neutral voltage needs to be calculated, the formula for converting kW to Volts is as follows:
VL-N = 1000 * P(kW) / (3 × PF × I(A))
