kW to kVA Calculation
The apparent power S in kilovolt-amps (kVA) is equal to the real power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by the power factor PF:
S(kVA) = P(kW) / PF
For example, let’s find the apparent power in kVA for a 25 kW electric motor with a power factor of 0.75.
S(kVA) = 25 kW ÷ 0.75 = 33.333 kVA
In this example, 25 kW with a power factor of 0.75 is equivalent to 33.333 kilovolt-amps.
