kVA to kW Calculation

The real power P in kilowatts (kW) is equal to the apparent power S in kilovolt-amps (kVA), times the power factor PF:

P(kW) =  S(kVA) × PF

For example, let’s find the real power of a piece of equipment with 75 kVA of apparent power and a power factor of 0.85.

P(kW) = 75 kVA × 0.85 = 63.75 kW

So, in this example, 75 kVA can be converted to 63.75 kW.

Note that the conversion factor depends on the power factor, which is a measure of how efficiently power is being used in a circuit. In this case, the power factor is 0.85, which means that the real power is 85% of the apparent power.
